Before anyone start thinking of moving from Christianity to worldliness or from righteousness to unrighteousness they should ask themselves if those in unrighteousness are really enjoying it with an eternal hopelessness. So moving from righteousness to unrighteousness is not a guarantee that One will even succeed and survive the times well. The only true genuine guarantee anyone can have and hold on to securely is the Word of God. In Isaiah 60:1 we read, “Arise, shine for your light is come”. This can be rephrased to read, “Arise for your opportunity to shine has come”.
Gross darkness may cover the nation and her people but the glory of God shall arise upon you. The beauty of light is best known and appreciated in darkness. When darkness covers the earth and gross darkness the people, God says to the Christian, “this is the opportunity for you to shine the light of my glory.” Light in Light does not shine as much as Light in darkness. Light brings attention and is an attraction. So it is time for Christians to see their opportunities and grab them. The troubles unfolding are not peculiar to Nigeria alone but global. The economy of the world is going because the Creator of the world is coming back soon. He said “I will shake the nations until the desire of the nations come”. Who is the desire of the nations? He is Jesus Christ. The Son of God and the King of Kings is coming and the nations are shaking. Things are happening. These are the times for Christians to seize opportunities.
The Bible says “when men shall say there is a casting down, I will say there is a lifting up” It is time for us to say and see the “lifting up” while others are seeing “a casting down”. When we see as God wants us to see, we will receive what he desires for us to receive. At times of Famine and economic hardship, God always demonstrate his greatness. God uses willing vessels to show he is greater than adversities and there is no limitation to his ability. In Genesis 26 when there was severe famine in the land of Canaan and everyone was running to Egypt, God told Isaac to remain in the Land and sow. There was dryness and emptiness. But God said “Sow”. Isaac obeyed, sowed and reaped a hundredfold harvest. The Bible says he moved forward and enlarged and became very great. So God always uses such famine periods and experiences to showcase his people and prove to all that his cup never runs dry and his Central Bank does not go bankrupt. God's currency is never devalued. So in times like these, those that know their God should be strong and do exploits. So for Christians, this is the time to know the ability, power and glory of God and partake in it. The Bible says in John 1 that the light shines in darkness and the darkness comprehend it not. We are the sons of the light and the light of the world. We are on earth to shine and give light to this darkened world and not to join the darkness.
